The Conference of European Churches (CEC) would like to invite applications from young adults in its Member Churches to participate as stewards at the CEC Peace Conference 2019. The conference will be held from 10 – 12 September at the Institut Protestant de Théologie, Paris, France.
CEC will facilitate ecumenical formation and international experience for the five selected young stewards, who will have the opportunity to engage with the theme of peace at the conference.
Stewards will play a special role in the smooth running of the conference by assisting the conference coordinator and the team in different areas of work. They will be helping in the areas of floor management (running the plenary halls/seminars’ rooms), communications (helping CEC communicator with photography, etc.), providing information to the participants (orientation, information regarding sessions, etc.), as well as other responsibilities.
Stewards are expected to be present from Monday 9 September 2019 lunchtime until Thursday 12 September 2019 afternoon. They will be in direct contact with the CEC staff member Ms Charlie Belot, helping her and the team running operation of the event.
Furthermore, stewards are encouraged to listen and participate in the different plenary, seminars and forum during the time of the conference.
In the context of its 60th anniversary, the Conference of European Churches is pleased to introduce the 2019 Peace Conference. The gathering will explore the Paris Peace Conference of 1919 in its centenary year, identify its legacies and the hard lessons from our European and global past, and search for new and creative ways of peace building in the 21st Century.
The CEC Peace Conference will take place from 10 September until 12 September 2019. It will start with a visit to the Palace of Versailles on the afternoon of Tuesday 10 September and will then take place at the Institut Protestant de Théologie in Paris, France from Tuesday 10 September evening until Thursday 12 September lunchtime.
More information on the Peace conference its objectives and methodology in the attached invitation.
Young people aged between 18 and 30 with a strong interest in the ecumenical work are eligible to apply. Sufficient knowledge of English and French (an asset) combined with motivation and enthusiasm to work for long hours in a diverse team is required.
CEC will be responsible for board and lodging expenses. Travel costs, passport, visa and other personal expenses are to be borne by the steward. Applicants are requested to apply to their home church, local parish and/or diocese, and National Council of Churches for funding. In case they fail to raise funds, they should contact CEC.
Stewards will be accommodated in rooms of two at Foyer Le Pont or at FIAP Jean Monnet.
